- In Seward you'll find shops, restaurants and museums and events like the Fourth of July Mt. Marathon Foot Race, Silver Salmon Derby and the Great Polar Bear Jump off. Tour and charter boats leave from Seward's harbor throughout the day bound for glacier and wildlife veiwing tours. Fishing charters and tours are readily available there too. Flightseeing tours embark from Seward's airport, just 3 minutes away from Salmon Creek Cabins.

- Polar Bear Jump Off Festival (Jan 16-17). Winter celebration, fund- raising plunge into the ocean. (907) 224-5230.
- Mt. Marathon Race and 4th of July Celebration. Grueling mountain race up 3,022 foot mountain. Enjoy games, parade, fireworks and great food. (907) 224-8051.
- Seward Silver Salmon Derby. (August 8-16). Alaska's richest derby: $10,000 first place and over $240,000 in cash and prizes. (907) 224-8051.

- Take the Historical Society walking tour of the historic buildings and "Millionaires' Row" on Third Avenue.
- See the salmon at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture fish weir at Bear Lake
- Visit the U.S. Park Service Kenai Fjords National Park Visitors Center in the Boat Harbor
- Hike up the Lost Lake Trail. U.S. Forest Service has information, maps and displays before you take off into the woods.
- Visit the Episcopal Church and admire the historic painting. (Corner of Second and Adams)
- Visit the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) and enjoy the Art Collection located in the Administrative Offices
- Enjoy the photographs of "old" Seward hanging in the City Hall and view some interesting "objects d' art"
- Photo opportunities abound around town. Take lots of photographs
- Watch the fish jumping in Resurrection Bay, especially during the Seward Silver Salmon Derby
- Picnic at Two Lakes Park. Tables and barbecue pits available. Behind AVTEC
- Visit the Boat Harbor and walk along the docks
- Admire the fine Aleut basket collection at the Resurrection Bay Historical Museum. ( small admission charge there )
- Relax and read at the Seward City Library. Fine art collection by Alaskan artists.
- Take a hard hat tour of the Alaska Sealife Center at the south end of Fourth Avenue
- Listen to the Dogs Howl when the traditional noon whistle goes off
- As you walk around town enjoy the many lovely flower gardens, baskets and the Bodacious Rhubarb
- Ride the green trolley around town
- Visit the Benny Benson Memorial at the lagoon. Benny designed the Alaska State Flag
- Watch the fishermen clean trophy fish down at the Small Boat Harbor
- Watch for Alaska's seagoing ferry, the Tustemena
- Watch the Mt. Marathon Race on the Fourth of July. Enjoy the parade, games, exhibits, food, fireworks.
- Drive out to Nash Road scenic pullouts for splendid views across the bay
- Drive out to Exit Glacier
- Be dazzled by the Yachts sailing in Resurrection Bay any day when the wind is fair and the seas are salubrious
- See Suneel's Big Blue convey coal to the coal ships plying the seas to Korea
- Climb Mt. Marathon. Follow the rout of the second oldest foot race in the United States
- See the Anchor Memorial honoring those who perished in the 1964 earthquake in front of the Harbormaster's office
- Root for the teams playing baseball in the Ball Fields on Fourth Avenue
- Match the sites in the Seward Centennial Quilt at the Library with the real buildings around town
- Stroll through Downtown Seward's Historic District. Van Gildner Hotel and the Depot are on the National Historic Register
- Look at the display of old collars in the Brown and Hawkins window
- Play tennis across from the Army Recreation Resort
- Visit the Library and see the video about the 1964 Earthquake ( Small fee here, too )
- Take a picnic lunch to the Wellington or Adams Street Pavilions on the waterfront
- Visit the Institute of Marine Science Rae Building. Salt water aquariums with local sea life. Nature films, books and pamphlets
- Enjoy biking the 2 mile paved bike path along the waterfront
- Walk or drive to Lowell Point
- hike the new coastal trail to Caines Head State Park
- Fish off the beach anywhere along the Seward waterfront and Lowell Point Road. ( Licenses required )
- Fill your tummy with food from the many restaurants around town
- Play tennis on the courts at the High School located on the west side of the building
- Walk along the beach in Greenbelt. Beachcomb, watch for sea otters and fish jumping (to get away from the see otters, no doubt!)
- Hike the national Historic Iditarod Trail. Dog sled marks the beginning on Fourth Avenue
- Admire the colorful banners hanging on the lampposts
- Visit the historic Founders' Monument on the corner of Ballaine and Railway
- See the original flag sewn by Benny Benson on display in the Library. (say hi to the librarian; if you've taken this list point by point, you're probably on a first name basis with most of the staff by now)
